Grace began her career as an accountant, working a typical 9-to-5 after graduation. Wanting something more meaningful, she took an unconventional path into the fashion world to pursue modelling. The journey took her across ASEAN countries and led to a major breakthrough — walking in New York Fashion Week 2016.
Life as a model sparked a deeper interest in skincare. Struggling with dry, sensitive skin herself, Grace began experimenting with soap-making to solve her own problem. When her mother was diagnosed with eczema — losing sleep to the discomfort — Grace threw herself into studying herbs and natural ingredients. After months of experimentation, she crafted a personalised soap that significantly improved her mother's condition.
Those two breakthroughs became the foundation of Balance Tree, founded in 2016: a brand built on the belief that something made by hand, made for one specific person, carries a different kind of value.
From one bar of soap to a full gifting studio
Customers who bought the soap kept asking about the packaging — who designed it, whether we could make boxes for their own products. So Grace learned structural packaging design. Outsourced production kept missing deadlines, so the team brought laser cutting, engraving and UV printing in-house, machine by machine.
Today Balance Tree is a Klang Valley gifting and packaging studio with four dedicated machines and more than 500 clients served — from SMEs to multinational companies. The handmade soap that started everything is still made in our studio, alongside soy wax candles and wax sachets — now tucked inside corporate gift sets as the detail no reseller can copy.
The belief hasn't changed since day one: a gift should feel personal, even when a company sends it.
